About two km to the east of Ciardes/Tschars lies Naturno/Naturns, the gateway to the Venosta Valley just prior to the wilderness of the Senales Valley. Visitors will be amazed at the vitality of the village center with its shops, boutiques, delicatessens and intimate coffee houses. Contrasting with the bustling atmosphere in the town center, Naturno in the holiday district of Merano and Environs also lends itself to almost limitless hiking and trekking trips in the total freedom of nature.
Explore the Monte Sole Mountain in the Venosta Valley, with its barren vegetation; one of the very few mountains in the Alps where there is no snowfall in winter. Take a hike through the highlands of the Texel Group Nature Park or perhaps a leisurely bike ride down the old Roman road, the Via Claudia Augusta.
Among the most important events unfolding during the course of the year, there are the extreme Ötzi Alpin Marathon Triathlon, the Starlight Cuisine: Night of Lights and the Riesling Days. Those interested in culture will be interested to know that amidst the orchards in Naturno there is the Church of St. Proculus with its museum annex. The church houses the oldest frescoes in the entire German-speaking world.
